Staples Inside Account Manager in Kansas City, Missouri


Position Summary:

Manage and develop relationships with large groups of individual customers within key accounts (example - John Deere dealers within the John Deere account). ADM will be responsible for driving profitable sales by utilizing outbound marketing to promote SPP’s program and special-order services. Position will direct all aspects of special order business for their assigned customers. The ADM will work closely with and take direction from the Account Executive, Field Sales Director and internal teams in the management and execution of the account’s strategies, offering ideas and suggestions for the annual marketing calendar(s) for each. Due to the size of the individual customers the relationship will primarily be through phone, email and direct marketing strategies.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage & expand SPP’s relationship with individual customers within key accounts with a tactical focus. (Ongoing)

  • Develop customer relationships through regular customer contact over the telephone/email to drive sales. (Ongoing)

  • Make outbound calls to assigned prospect contacts/accounts, and accurately and efficiently document. (Ongoing)

  • Effectively prioritize among numerous customers and opportunities for greatest return. (Ongoing)

  • Develop and implement outbound marketing strategies to gain market share within selected accounts for program and special order. (50%)

  • Direct special order sales for individual customers utilizing the accounts special order support team. Will also be required to provide creative sourcing ideas in support of customers and the account. (25%)

  • Drive awareness of the account’s program to individual customers through marketing efforts. (25%)

  • In partnership with the Account Executive provide direction and support to all internal departments that support the account – Special Order, Program Management, Merchandising, I&R and Customer Service – to insure client needs are met. (10%)

  • Travel to various customer locations, meetings or on-site events as needed. (10%)

  • On an as needed basis work on short term sales promotions to drive revenue for targeted accounts. (As Needed)

  • Other assigned duties relative to sales development. (As Needed)

  • Ability to meet sales quotas consistently. Success is measured by the ADM's ability to achieve or exceed your monthly sales quotas


Basic Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Proven self-starter with energy and motivation to uncover, develop and close sales

  • Demonstrated strong time management skills

  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook

  • Ability to sell company values and services, in addition to program features and benefits via phone and internet

  • Ability to sell multiple buyer levels within small to mid-sized customers

  • Adaptable to a fast-pace organization that changes to continuously improve the customers experience
