SAIC is looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect to focus on forward-leaning application architecture integration practices for a major client in Kansas City, MO.

Job Description:

This Senior Enterprise Architect must first be a well-rounded, technically-competent general architect, able to work at both solution and enterprise levels. This architect will collaborate with a team of other senior architects, each focused on various specific areas of improvement. Specially, this candidate will help define, refine, develop, advocate and support good integration patterns and platforms needed to deliver healthy application architectures, strategies & solutions. Building consensus and priority for these capabilities is a key part of this role. Solid relationships building with key technology leaders and staff is required. Prioritized solutions must be demonstrated in practical working proof of concepts, reference applications and pilot implementations. Hands-on ability to work efficiently with many legacy and candidate technologies is required as integration solutions move from exploration to proof of concept to standards to active use within the organization. Solutions must also be supported by online documentation and implementation guidance. The candidate will be called upon periodically to help build training material and presentations to introduce integration technologies, standards and patterns across the development community. The candidate must work well with a larger architecture team to link integration architecture work effectively with the work of others.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both defining and directly building advanced distributed systems. They must be a highly productive developer with excellent design and architecture skills. Solid experience and proficiency with open source software tools are needed. They must be a self-starter and a fast study on new technologies. Success will require the ability to collaborate and influence. The candidate must be flexible, have a great attitude, and be willing to adapt to changing demands to accomplish the mission. The ability to clearly narrate, diagram and document the reasoning and guidance behind the recommended integration solutions is critical.

Primary responsibilities:

Provide technical and strategic influence on integration and other architecture topics within a large community with diverse functional and technical disciplines including enterprise architects, analysts and systems engineers

Present technical information to both technical staff and executive audiences

Work directly with technical leaders, architects and developers to craft guidance on new integration patterns, solutions and standards, including methods to bridge between legacy and new integration patterns

Influence the building and approving of new integration standards and demonstrate the same in working code and supporting documentation

Provide appropriately-leveled guidance and explanations for executives, as needed

Integrate and translate complex concepts into tactical action plans and roadmaps for introducing new solutions

Upgrade and expand existing technical standards to practically support the needs of the internal IT community

Influence the current software development culture to embrace and adopt integration improvements

Mature the API management practices and technologies used within the technical community.

Earn the respect of the technical peers for pragmatic and transformational integration technical ideas



Bachelor's degree in related field and 9-10+ years related experience

Four additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Expert level Java distributed systems development & architecture (including JEE experience)

Moderate level of JavaScript development and architecture (favoring new UI technologies)

Substantial practice in the architecture, delivery and operations of cloud-hosted solutions

Substantial experience in integrating distributed systems with large COTS platforms

Specific experience with ( platform) is highly desired.

Broadest possible applied development experience across multiple technologies

Strong communications skills (oral, written and graphical)

Flexibility, as the team often must adjust plans to accommodate unexpected external priority drivers.

Experience working for or with a federal agency (desirable)

Experience implementing and integrating mixed cloud-based and traditional solutions (desirable)

Clearance Requirement:

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance

US CITIZEN or Green Card Holder
