General Summary:

This position provides business development for Grundfos Building Services products and applications in the US and Canada. Develop, align and deploy short-, mid- and long-term regional business development by ensuring necessary contributions from all functions within the group and the region. Ensure that all key stakeholders; external as well as internal; are engaged in an appropriate and timely manner. Provide leadership for the relevant segment activities in collaboration with other matrix heads in the region to achieve the commercial targets. This position reports to the Regional Managing Director with a functional/dotted reporting line to the Head of the Global Market Segment. The incumbent will be a member of the Americas Regional Management Team and act as the regional representative in Global Business Teams and Product/Program Management reviews.

Major Tasks:

  • Contributes, shapes and executes the regional strategy plan; as an integrated part of the Regional Management team in close cross-functional collaboration with the RMD and the other team members.

  • Translates Group Segment Strategy and group action plans into relevant regional segment initiatives.

  • Ensures group marketing funds are adequately allocated to aligned regional activities.

  • Contributes to the global segment strategy through close collaboration and involvement of Group BD Liaison Officer by incorporating regional needs into a global segment offerings roadmap.

  • Develops and deploys initiatives and projects for the regional segment that contribute to the overall corporate strategy.

  • Sets targets for and monitors the performance of the regional segment against standards and targets in areas such as operational performance, efficiency, cost control, revenue generation, legal compliance, and human resource management - the latter part in close dialogue with the regional HR Partner.

  • Contributes to the cross-functional strategic planning and decision-making at regional level to implement a business development plan that aligns with the organization's overall ambition and its current and long-term business objectives of sales growth, increasing market share and sustained customer satisfaction.

  • Develops new business opportunities by collaborating with sales companies, channel partners, end users and customers.

  • Improves involvement with relevant industry associations; provides thought leadership and technical expertise in relevant industry forums and in the printed and digital media.

  • Interfaces to Group relating to the development of sales and solution tools.

  • Tracks competitor and startup activity and provides competitive assessments of current and direct competitors, as well as parallel and potential competitors in collaboration with sales companies.

  • Responsible for the hand-over of new products accompanied by trainings and regional adaptation of "go to" market strategies.

  • Provides ongoing progress updates on new business development activities, performance against the sales plan, and other key indicators to the region management and global segment teams.

  • Supports and provides input to Service offerings and Spare Parts penetration.

  • Provide input into the market pricing process.

  • Collaborates with Product Managers to establish the right visibility for the product portfolio and the full product life cycle is optimally and effectively managed in the region.

  • Selects, leads, guides, evaluates and develops the regional business development team to ensure that the unit/function achieves the business objectives and complies with all relevant local regulations and laws.

  • Carries out any additional and related tasks and roles assigned by the Regional Managing Director.

Required Education and Experience:

A relevant business or technical degree. An MBA is a plus. 10+ years relevant industry & business development experience is required.

  • Proven experience developing and executing key strategic initiatives within a complex business environment; experience working in a global manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

  • Extensive experience operating and leading a large team preferably within similar commercial area.

  • Experience managing in a matrix management environment.

  • Solid experience in managing partner relationships on an ongoing basis, with the purpose of assure mutual success and high satisfaction level.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian markets and competition.

  • Current with emerging trends and technologies in the pump products and applications.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of products, applications and players in the relevant segment.
